Hello, with the 180k resistor you can raise the gain of the OP amp IC1. The range of the compression control will be moved to more gain with a higher resistor in series with the pot. 

@mastermoderator thank you! And could you please explain the difference in using the vintage ge diode? I imagine it's for D6 in the board? 

I want the compressor to be as subtle as possible, just a gentle boost and fattening for slide and solos. But I'm very dynamic so I generally don't like compression. I'll choose the more warm, musical, subtle option always. Hope that helps. Thanks!

@sebascruz You can put sockets on D6, that is correct, and try the vintage diode and see if you get a different response. They differ quite much and I can tell what is expected. Try it!

Hi! Just wanted to point out that the instructions for the J-fet compressor say on step 9, and image 3, that C17 goes on pins 1 and 2 of P3, but image 4 shows the wiring and C17 is on pins 2 and 3. I think that is the correct one? Meaning, the capacitor should go from the wiper to the pin going to "Vol" on the PCB. 

Am I right?
